Ken, a native New Yorker, grew up in Miami, graduated from the U of M with a degree in accounting and and worked for a major Miami bank until he took a position with a Minneapolis based computer service bureau in 1979.  His career there included management, marketing support and computer design and development.  In 1991, he started his own company consulting and providing computer programming and services for small companies.

Karen, a Chicago suburbanite, graduated from Loyola with a degree in Finance. She entered the Management Training program at LaSalle National Bank of Chicago after graduation and earned her MBA from DePaul University while working full time at the bank. In 1985 she moved to Minneapolis to take a position as Vice President of Operations for a major municipal bond firm. She later transitioned into the insurance and employee benefits industry in a management capacity as Director of Marketing. 

Karen and Ken met in 1983 while she was working at the bank and they married in 1988. They bought a home on Lake Minnetonka and lived there until they moved permanently to Punta Gorda. In 2001 they purchased their home in Punta Gorda Isles and a year later they packed up their things, sold their lake home, and officially became unemployed Florida residents. 

Although not having to go to work was fun for a while, they both needed something to do and were too young to retire so they became involved in the community. They took a boating safety class to become more familiar with the waters and Ken joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary. They joined both of the Chamber of Commerce organizations and the PGIslanders Cruise Club. Karen decided to get her real estate license and later convinced Ken he should too so they both became Realtors in 2003. Life has not been the same since! 

Both of them immediately embraced their new careers and took advantage of every educational opportunity they could. They also became involved with the industry associations including the local and state Association of Realtors and Women’s Council of Realtors. Karen has served in various officer positions for Women’s Council, including President in 2006. Ken served on the Governing Board of Women’s Council as the Webmaster for several years. Both of them serve on various committees for the local association. Karen is a Past President and has been on the Board of Directors for our local REALTOR Association since 2007. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Florida REALTOR Association for 3 years. They have both earned recognition from the National Association of REALTORs for completing advanced educational designations (ABR, GRI, CRS, SRES, e Pro, AHWD to mention a few), making them members of the less than 5% of real estate licensees in the country to have done so. 

Today, they are still active in the community and have added St Andrews Golf Club and TEAM Punta Gorda to the list of organizations they are involved with. They live in Punta Gorda Isles, on the water, with their 2 dogs and a cat. Ken has a daughter, Laura, who lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two children. They travel when they can and also spend as much time as possible on the water, either boating, hydro-biking or just hanging out by the water!
